Interestingly many women have been wired to seek "confidence" as a very attractive quality in men.I very much agree that confidence is a great virtue that mature men should have but we need to look at that word carefully and how it relates to men.
So men have grown to ensure that they put up a confident outlook at "all times" so as not to appear weak especially when relating with women.
Many women say they desire an emotionally intimate relationship with males but feel put off if the "man" shows emotion or cries in the process,then they tell him to "man up",which means to proove he is masculine and not weak.
Asides from the fact that when you tell a man to man up,he might never totally open up to you again.The real conversation is ,how did society/culture programme women to be attracted to that "Macho" expression we call confidence?
Can i humbly submit that from my interface with men that the problem is with the misunderstanding of the word "confidence". Confidence in men is not the absence of fear or vulnerability like we have been trained to think, it's accepting the reality on ground and deciding to keep moving inspite of the obvious reality.
What we have done is to wrongly train men to deny the pain/feeling in the bid to appear "confident"This leads to the suppression of inner realities and the subsequent implosion men suffer.Confidence is the inner capacity to get up and go despite the obvious pain we feel.
